In 2014-15 in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans the Federation held a Policy Forum and a series of workshops on PIIFCAF, governance and inter-generational transfers of licences. These are the reports of those discussions.
DFO Consultation on the Future of Canada’s Commercial Fisheries
In January 2012 the Department of Fisheries and Oceans released a discussion document on the future of Canada’s Commercial fisheries that generated widespread concern amongst Canada’s independent owner-operator fleets. Here are the DFO’s consultation document and the response of the Canadian Independent Fish Harvesters’ Movement, a grouping of fishermen’s organizations that preceded the creation of the Federation.
